Earth Day. How ridiculous is it that our society has come to the point where we only have one day in the entire year that is dedicated to giving thanks to our planet. The planet that provides us with everything required to survive. The planet that gives life to every amazing and beautiful being, creature, plant, tree. The planet that allows us to experience sunrises and sunsets. The planet that provides us with fresh clean water and allows us to swim in the ocean, and surf the waves. The planet that provides us with the experiences that allow us to feel true bliss. When I think back to those moments that I feel true bliss, they are most always related to seeing a beautiful sunset, swimming in the ocean, smelling an amazing flower, or being in awe of another creature. My bliss moments are all moments of recognition that we live on such an AMAZING planet. Bliss is not buying a new purse, or watching a new tv show, or eating a fast food burger. It is not something we can create, but yet it is all around us. And still many people select only a few days of the year to really be thankful for it.
I CHALLENGE YOU to be thankful for it everyday. Wake up in the morning and look outside, take a drink of water, take a deep breath, and be thankful for everything the earth provides us. The earth does not need us. It would honestly be so much better off without us. But we do need it. More than most people acknowledge. Consider how your actions impact the planet by always remembering ” Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together…all things connected” – Chief Seattle.
