Recipe: Black Kale Chips

Organic Black Kale Chips Recipe

I like to use black kale instead of green kale as it isn’t as tough as green kale and is not as bitter. Great option for people who are still a bit iffy about eating kale!

Ingredients:

1 Bunch of organic black kale
1 Tsp olive oil
A pinch of sea salt
A pinch of garlic powder

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Tear the leafy sections of the kale off of the large middle vein into equal sized pieces. The bigger the pieces the better as they will shrink up. Its very important that they are all similar size. Put the kale pieces into a large bowl. add the oil, sea salt, and garlic powder and mix thoroughly using your hands to toss them. Spread the kale pieces on a baking sheet so that they are not over lapping. Put the baking sheet in the oven for 4-5 minutes then take it out and flip the kale chips. Place them back in the oven for another few minutes. The chips are ready when the edges are slightly browned and the entire chip is slightly crispy. Make sure to watch them carefully in the oven because they cook quick and the cooking time will depend on the size of the kale pieces.

Variations:

Try adding different spices like cajun seasoning, onion powder and chilli powder, or sea salt and toss in lemon juice.
